WE WANT MORE WOMEN TO BE INVOLVED WITH POLITICS ALL THROUGHOUT NORTHERN ONTARIO
We’re building a community to support women candidates for the 2018 municipal elections. Our goal is to have more women run for elected positions in northern Ontario than ever before. Engaging in this project could be as simple as asking a woman you believe in to run for a ward, or supporting a woman as she runs for city council; even liking our Facebook page and sharing it with your friends, who might also want to get involved in various ways, is incredibly helpful.
Statistics show that even having one woman on a city council can change the perspective of the council. Now, imagine what having an even number of women on our city councils could do. That's where we come in.
Our plan is to run campaigns aimed at facilitating the entry of interested women into politics. We're going to run campaign schools, connect them with people that believe in them, hold town halls for women candidates, etc. We want to make sure that women feel supported every step of the way, and that every woman who has ever dreamed of running for a position in politics can.
Equal representation in municipalities all throughout northern Ontario.
We aim to amplify women’s voices and engage in gender-inclusive political discourse, engage more women in politics and work together to support women candidates for municipal councils.
