Hi. I’m Amanda.
I help everyday Canadians understand politics — so they can actually change it.
Lifelong educator. Civics nerd. Relentless believer in the power of everyday people to change politics.
I believe understanding democracy is the first step toward transforming it. With a background in teaching and years of experience in campaign strategy, I create tools, spaces, and support systems that help Canadians participate meaningfully in politics — especially those historically pushed to the margins.
Because when people understand how democracy works, they can shape it.
Teacher Turned Political Change-Maker
I’m a teacher first — that’s where I honed the skills I use every day: breaking down complex ideas, connecting with people, and making learning feel possible.
But after a few years in the classroom, I felt pulled toward something more. I wanted to understand how power worked — and how to change what wasn’t working for my students, my community, and people like me. So I followed that instinct into campaign training. What started as curiosity quickly became a second calling.
Before long, I was teaching by day and running political campaigns by night — and loving it. Not just the strategy, but the purpose. I realized I could use those skills to build something better.
That’s why I created PoliticsNOW — to support women and diverse candidates who weren’t being served by the political status quo. What started as a small project has grown into a national movement that’s supported over 80 campaigns and helped elect more than 60 women to office across Ontario.
And because people kept asking how politics actually works, I started Amanda Teaches Civics — where I break down Canadian politics in plain, jargon-free language. Through videos, talks, and workshops, I’ve helped thousands of people understand how democracy actually works — and how to make it work for them.
Both platforms come from the same place:
A belief that when people understand how democracy works, they can shape it.

My Vision
Real change starts with people — not politicians.
When everyday Canadians understand democracy, they don’t just watch from the sidelines. They show up. They speak up. They change the game.
My mission? To help folks who’ve been shut out of politics feel seen, heard, and ready to take their rightful place at the table — with confidence, clarity, and a community cheering them on.
I’m building a political culture that’s:
✅ Equitable
