Hi! I'm Amanda.
I make politics make sense —
and help people find their power within it.
A little about me (and a lot about why I do this).
It started while I was teaching kindergarten and volunteering on federal election campaigns.
Somewhere between the classroom and the campaign trail, I had a realization: I'd picked up a whole collection of skills that not nearly enough people had access to. And if I could share those skills freely, I could help more people I believed in find their way into political leadership.
That idea became PoliticsNOW.
But the more I worked with women, candidates, and communities, the more I realized something: most people want to make a difference. They care about their communities, they have ideas, and they want to make things better. They just don't always know where to start.
And why would they? We don't exactly do a stellar job of teaching people how our political systems work, where decisions get made, or how ordinary people can influence them.
That's where I come in.
I'm a teacher at heart, a political nerd by choice, and someone who genuinely loves making complicated things make sense. Taking something that feels intimidating or inaccessible and turning it into an “Oh! I get it now!” moment? That's my superpower.
And I've always believed that superpowers are meant to be shared.
Because the more people who understand their power, the more people who can use it to make the world a little better for everyone.

What started as an idea to share a few skills has grown into opportunities to educate, organize, collaborate, and contribute to conversations about democracy and political participation across Canada.
From classrooms and campaign trails to community organizations and national stages, the work has taken me to some pretty incredible places — and introduced me to even more incredible people.
